Dawn to Dusk – London 2025

InterFaith – Run for a United World” was there

On December 7, 2025, the traditional “Dawn to Dusk” run took place in London (Ilford) on the traditional 2 km training route of the legendary Fauja Singh, recipient of the British Empire Medal. The run was dedicated to him and was organized by “Sikhs in the City” (SITC)

Fauja, who had also participated in our half marathon in Luxembourg, died in a car accident in his hometown in India on July 14 this year at the age of 114.

Seven participants from Luxembourg and seven students from Kassel, accompanied by their professor Dr. Petra Freudenberger-Lötz, enjoyed a long weekend of running and many enriching intercultural encounters.

This included a visit to the Methodist Church in Ilford, where representatives of different worldviews and religions came together with us. Of particular interest was the report by a police officer whose job it is to defuse potential conflicts between religious communities in advance through direct dialogue.

Fridolin Parth from Kassel has written an informative report on the weekend (in German).

Our thanks go to the organizers of SITC, who gave us an unforgettable weekend.

As in previous years, SITC will be represented by numerous members at the InterFaith Weekend in 2026.
